Owl Country is an Americana music duo based in Sonoma County, California with Yvette Holzwarth on violin and Dan Imhoff on guitar.
The two met at a fundraiser for local farmers and found that they shared both musical and ecological interests. This quickly led to collaborative writing, which brings together their different musical backgrounds.
They will soon be releasing their first album of original songs, a hybrid of folk, country, pop, and blues. Over the summer of 2014 they recorded and produced 13 original songs in a one-room 1906 schoolhouse outside of Healdsburg, California. They chose to record in the resonant school to bring a unique warmth to their acoustic music.
Their tightly blended vocal harmonies evoke stories inspired by life in rural Sonoma County. The album features duets supported by great musicians: David Grisman on mandolin, Chris Amberger on bass, Charlie Musselwhite on harmonica, and Dave Zirbel on pedal steel, as well as San Francisco-based drummer PC Muñoz.
